About us

Yuna Namdar, a virtuoso musician, began his musical journey at the tender age of four, guided by his father, Alireza Hojjati Namdar. Alireza, a master of the Santoor and a student of the esteemed Faramarz Payvar and Jalil Andalibi, instilled in Yuna a deep appreciation for traditional and folk music.

At four, he started with the violin, and by eight, he was recognised as the best young violinist at the Tehran Youth Festival, receiving the award from Mohammad Reza Shajarian and Ali Pirniakan for his performance of Vivaldi's Four Seasons. At twelve, he joined the Tehran Boys Music High School, honing his skills in classical violin and cello under the tutelage of Mazyar Zahiredini, Karim Ghorbani, Arsalan Kamkar, and Bardia Kiaras.

At sixteen, Yuna became the youngest member of the Tehran Symphony Orchestra, led by Ali Rahbari, an assistant to Robert Von Karajan. He performed with orchestras such as the Rudaki Symphony Orchestra, the Tehran Radio and Television Orchestra, the Iranian National Orchestra, and the Tehran Philharmonic Orchestra under Shahrdad Rohani and Arash Goran. After graduating from the Tehran Music High School, Yuna ranked third in the global composition competition at Soureh University in Tehran.

In 2011, he dedicated himself to composition and classical singing, studying with Tafazoli, Hormoz Farhat, Aidin Samimi Mofakham, Loris Hoian, Reza Vali, Alireza Mashayekhi, and Dr. Mohammad Amin Sharifi. Concurrently, he earned a degree equivalent to a Bachelor's in global performance from the Tehran Conservatory under Ali Salehipour. After receiving his Bachelor's degree in composition, Yuna moved to England to study at the Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM) in Manchester under Christopher Tainter, Robert Alderson, Maxim Vengerov, Callum Smart, and Natallia Kompaniets.

In 2021, he collaborated with the English orchestra Meliora Collective Orchestra as an opera soloist, performing challenging pieces from classical composers such as Wagner, Puccini, Massenet, and Mahler. Following his collaboration with the Manchester orchestra, he pursued a Master's degree in composition at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, specialising in contemporary and electronic composition under Simon Hall, Andrew Hamilton, Joe Cutler, Andrew Toovey, and Richard Ayres.
